The Cover Making Process

1. Initial Consultation & Needs Assessment
Contact us with your request for a custom or semi-custom piece of work. Discussion includes:
- Boat type and model
- Purpose of the cover (storage, travel, mooring, etc.)
- Desired materials and features (UV resistance, waterproofing, etc.)
- Budget and timeline
2. Measurements & Templates
Depending on whether it’s custom or semi-custom, this step varies:
🔹 Custom Service:
One of our Directors will personally come measure and take a template.
3. Design & Pattern Making
The template is used for cutting fabric, done traditionally by hand! Features are incorporated, such as:
- Reinforced areas (e.g., windshield, cleats)
- Ventilation flaps
- Zippers or snaps
- Motor hoods
- Tie-down straps or elastic hems
The most common marine-grade materials we use include:
- Sunbrella® (UV-resistant acrylic fabric)
- Canvas
- Topgun
- PVC
Some factors to consider with your cover:
- Water resistance
- UV/fade resistance
- Mold/mildew resistance
- Breathability
- Weight and durability
5. Fabric Cutting & Sewing
Patterns are then laid out and cut manually. Skilled technicians stitch panels together using:
- Double-stitched seams
- UV-resistant thread
- Reinforcements at stress points
Optional features added:
- Windows
- Support poles
- Snap or strap systems
- Elastic hems or drawcords
6. Delivery & Installation
Cover is fitted by directors (if local)
Installation instructions or accessories (eg: poles, straps) are included
7. After-Sales Support
- Warranty coverage
- Repair or adjustment services
- Tips for maintenance and care
