Description

Drennan AS5 Carp Pole Rig

The Drennan AS5 Carp Pole Rig is a strong, ready-tied pole rig designed for targeting big carp in the margins and shallow island swims on commercial fisheries. Developed in conjunction with five-time World Champion Alan Scotthorne, the AS5 uses a short, heavy-duty float pattern that combines excellent strength with the visibility and buoyancy needed for positive carp fishing. It is an ideal choice when fishing close to cover, down the edge or across to shallow far-bank areas where powerful carp demand dependable tackle.

At the heart of the rig is the latest Drennan AS5 Carp float, featuring a highly buoyant balsa body, lightweight carbon stem and tough acrylic finish for excellent durability. A 2.0mm interchangeable Hi-Viz tip provides excellent visibility and enough buoyancy for larger hookbaits, while allowing the tip colour to be changed to suit different light and water conditions. The AS5 is particularly well suited to popular commercial carp baits including pellets, meat, sweetcorn and worms, making it an excellent ready-made option for match and pleasure anglers targeting bigger fish.

Why Choose the Drennan AS5 Carp?

The AS5 is the specialist shallow and margin option within the current AS Carp family. Its short, robust float design makes it particularly well suited to fishing down the edge or across to shallow island swims, where larger carp are often hooked at close range.

The combination of a carbon stem and 2.0mm interchangeable tip provides strength, visibility and buoyancy without making the float unnecessarily bulky. The thicker tip is particularly useful when presenting larger carp baits such as pellets, meat, corn and worms.

For anglers building a selection of ready-tied Drennan AS Carp rigs, the AS5 provides the dedicated option for positive, close-range carp fishing in shallow water.
